Winter is coming, and with it, a chance to slow down.

Winter is coming, and with it, a chance to slow down, reset, and reconnect with ourselves and our community.

Whether you’re stepping into cold dips, cozying up with nourishing habits, or joining in on mindful movement, there’s a way to make this season feel supportive, grounding, and playful.

Here are a few simple practices to help you move into winter with ease:

1. Breathe with Intention

Take a few minutes each day to notice your breath. Simple, steady breaths calm the nervous system and create space amid winter’s rush. I start my day with three rounds of the Wim Hof Method, helping my body adapt to changing temperatures and supporting immunity during the winter months.

2. Cold Exposure: 11 Minutes Per Week

In Neuroscientist Andrew Huberman podcast, in conversation with Dr. Susanna Søberg, she explains that about 11 minutes of cold exposure per week is enough to begin seeing benefits. Spread this across 2–4 sessions (2–3 minutes each) rather than doing it all at once.

The cold should feel “uncomfortably cold but safe”, enough to activate your system, but without risking hypothermia or severe cold shock. If you’re new to cold exposure, a private session can be a great way to start.

Regular cold exposure has been linked to improved metabolism, mood, and mental resilience. The cold, in fact, can become our warm friend.

3. Sleep with Window & Curtains Open

Sleeping with your window open, or letting natural light in by opening curtains can support better sleep and overall well-being:

  • Improved air quality (lower CO₂, fewer stale pollutants) helps promote deeper, restorative sleep.

  • Cooler room temperatures encourage the body to rest and reset naturally.

4. Move Your Body

Even if it’s wet and rainy, embrace the elements. Walking, hiking, or playful outdoor movement primes your body for winter sports and strengthens the nervous system. The colder, wetter weather becomes part of your preparation, not a reason to stay inside.

5. Gather in Community

Winter feels lighter when shared. Join local events, We Dip Whistler dips, or workshops; it’s a reminder that we’re stronger (and warmer) together.
