My Journey:

How Breathwork & Cold Therapy Changed My Life

Hi, I’m Laura, the founder of We Dip Whistler.

My journey with cold water immersion began unexpectedly during lockdown in March 2020. At the time, I was struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, and disconnection, caught in a cycle of escapism and heavy drinking. One day, I felt drawn to a freezing cold lake near my home in the UK. Despite the warnings, I took the plunge and that first dip changed everything.

For the first time in years, my mind felt quiet, my body felt strong, and my soul felt alive. I returned to the water daily, ditching the wetsuit and embracing the cold. This practice became my healing, my therapy, and my path to resilience.

The Power of the Cold & The Wim Hof Method

My journey led me to the Wim Hof Method, a powerful combination of breathwork, cold exposure, and mindset training. I dove deep into the practice, reading, learning, and embracing a new way of life. The results were transformative—I no longer relied on alcohol to cope with stress, and I found mental clarity, strength, and inner peace.

Two summers later, I trained directly with Wim Hof in Spain, pushing my limits and discovering what my body and mind were truly capable of. Today, I am a certified Wim Hof Method instructor, Ironman finisher, ski instructor, and lifelong athlete. Through cold exposure, I’ve unlocked a sense of focus and grounding—especially after being diagnosed with ADHD.

Elemental Rhythm Breathwork

I've explored many different styles of breathwork over the years, each offering something unique.

When I found Elemental Rhythm, something just landed differently.

The changing rhythms of the breath, the slower pace, the visualisations, and the permission to simply notice what I was feeling created an experience I hadn't felt before. It helped me slow down, become more intentional with my breath, and create space for emotions to move without needing to force or push through them.

It reminded me that the breath can meet us exactly where we are, and that every experience is different.

The journey itself has been just as meaningful. Learning alongside the incredible Elemental Rhythm team has deepened my understanding of breathwork in so many ways. Their knowledge, support, and genuine care for each person's journey has inspired the way I now guide others.

I'm so grateful to now share this practice and create a space where people can explore their own experience with curiosity, compassion, and without expectation.
